Alexis Taylor

Postpartum Doula & Infant Care Specialist
& Trained Birth Doula

Thank you so much for your interest in our company and our fine staff of Doulas and Doulas! By way of introduction, please allow Mother’s Care to share a bit about the Doula care provider you are considering to assist you during your pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period.

Alexis Taylor has been an integral part of our Doula staff since 2012. She has served many Mother’s Care families and would welcome the opportunity to serve your family. When she joined our MC Family she focused her work on assisting new parents with their baby and provided all manners of maternal and infant care.  She completed her MCDS Training and Certification in Postpartum Doula work in 2012 and since then has served as an MC Certified/Experienced Postpartum Doula, Infant Care Specialist and Professional Nanny.

CERTIFIED / EXPERIENCED POSTPARTUM DOULA:

When serving as a Postpartum Doula, Alexis focuses on the well-being and safety of the infant, remaining alert and attentive to the infants needs and to the needs of the new parents.  She employs the following philosophy in achieving her goal to consistently exceed a family’s expectation while meeting their infant care, postpartum doula or nanny needs: “While in my care, I will ensure your child is safe, well cared for and loved”. Alexis provides all manners of newborn care. This care includes (but is not limited to):

  • routine infant care for your baby (diapering, bathing, burping, sleep and calming techniques)
  • general infant feeding education and guidance (breastfeeding, bottle feeding and may include pumping info and support if you need it);
  • infant formula education which includes washing and sterilizing bottles and other feeding accessories,
  • caring for and bottle feeding your baby so you can rest (if this is your preference)
  • general household chores related to infant care (infant laundry & linens, washing/sterilizing breast pump parts and accessories, maintaining a tidy environment in your infants nursery, etc.)

Alexis is one of our most requested “Night Doulas” because of her vast experience assisting new mothers and their partners with night routines.  She is able to provide evidence-based guidance, tips and advice and will help your family rest, recuperate and re-energize after the birth of your baby! Alexis has become known as our MC “Travel Doula”.  Through Mother's Care, Alexis has served numerous, high-profile clients which included traveling with families locally and internationally while caring for their infants and young children. Alexis appreciates and abides by the necessity for confidentiality and privacy and maintains the same for every family served. During her travels she has provided Doula and/or Nanny Care for a few days to several weeks.

TRAINED BIRTH DOULA (Certification Pending):

In early 2024 Alexis' desire to expand her care of families led her to seek certification as Birth Doula. As of October 2024 she has completed her requirements for Birth Doula through DONA International & MCs Birth Doula Mentorship Program.  Her Certification status is PENDING with an expected confirmation of certification by or before December 31, 2025. Alexis continues to provide Birth Doula support while she waits for her official certification.  The clients she has worked with as a Birth Doula have allowed Alexis to experience opportunities not many New Doulas/Doulas in Training have so early on in their career!  Alexis has supported new parents during normal, unmedicated vaginal birth, induction of labor, precipitous labors, labor experiences with pain medications (nitrous oxide & epidural) and has even supported successfully (and beautifully) achieved Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC)!  Her clients define her as warm, caring, passionate and dedicated. Alexis pours her diverse talents into every client she works with.  She invests her heart into helping you reach your labor and birth goals, whatever they may be.  She is knowledgeable in various comfort techniques and strategies including using tools like birth balls and peanut balls, aromatherapy and more!

CONTINUING EDUCATION & MORE ABOUT ALEXIS:

Since starting her work with Mother’s Care, she has taken multiple continuing education courses related to how the birth experience influences emotional and physical recovery during the postpartum period so she can understand the specific needs of parents, especially overnight where new parents struggle with the change to sleep habits and pre-birth routines. Alexis has also received training and has experience in safe infant feeding practices which includes bottle feeding (breastmilk or formula) and can provide general assistance with breastfeeding.  Through the clientele she’s had she has also been able to provide assistance to parents with infants who have special care needs such as caring for young infants who were recuperating from surgery.

WHY SHE CHOSE BIRTH & POSTPARTUM WORK:

Alexis shares, "Caring for people has always been something that brings me joy and as the oldest of 5, I know a thing or two about the power of advocating for others. As someone who is fulfilled by encouraging others, I learned that Birth Doula work and me go hand in hand. The blessing and tangible joy that accompanies the miracle of birth is something I yearn to be apart of! Additionally, the opportunity to provide rest for new parents and the gift of newborn snuggles and scrunches only encouraged me to pursue postpartum doula work too! Being a multifaceted Doula has changed me for the better and I hope I’m able to give back all that’s been given to me".

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ALEXIS:

It is often said within her family that she was “born a mother”. She is, after all, the oldest of 5 siblings!  To this day she still calls her youngest sibling, "my baby", despite the fact that he will be entering his first year of college this year.  When you meet Alexis one of the first things you'll notice about her is her smile. It is infectious and warm. She enjoys singing, reading, musicals and is a published author of the book of poetry: “Palette Poetry." Alexis' educational background is in musical theater (BFA) and education. She was a teacher in the Broward County School System for several years where she was the Lead Drama Director, staging numerous performances for children of various ages.  Currently, when not providing Birth or Postpartum work, she is a Drama Teacher for the Miami-Dade School District.  She is also the Founder of an event known as: “heART of the Matter” (HotM) and thrives when coordinating other such multimedia art events. Showcasing various local artists and highlighting small businesses, Alexis' events provide a safe space to experience storytelling, art, dance, music and other forms of creative expression through a multitude of mediums. Her love of theater, acting and encouraging/supporting people of all ages has opened many doors for her including creating an LLC as a way to provide voice and acting lessons to the youth.

We are pleased that Alexis will share in your birth or postpartum experience! We promise her confidence and expertise will prove to be invaluable during your labor and birth or when you have your baby home with you!
