Thank you so much for your interest in our company and our fine staff of Doulas and Doulas! By way of introduction, please allow Mother’s Care to share a bit about the Doula care provider you are considering to assist you during your pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period.

It goes without saying that working with Marlo is truly working with the best! It’s no wonder many MC clients and our staff call her, “Mama Doula”! Over the years Marlo has not only assisted countless expectant parents during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period but she is also one of the first in South Florida to train women seeking certification as Birth Doulas, Postpartum Doulas and Childbirth Educators.

Marlo is a licensed attorney specializing in corporate, commercial transaction and real estate law.  Her formal education includes licensure as a registered nurse and certifications as a Lamaze International Childbirth Educator and HypnoBirthing Practitioner. She has served as a Professor of Nursing at Chamberlain University, Kaplan University, and Nova Southeastern University. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) she used her experience as a nurse and doula when presenting her DNP Capstone Project which focused on reducing Traumatic Birth Experiences by incorporating the Standardized Birth Plan to the routine plan of care of laboring patients. Currently she is the National Dean of Nursing over more than 50 campus' across the US at Concorde Career College.  She teaches locally and nationally at various workshops and conferences covering topics that relate to maternity care provides like nurses, midwives, obstetricians, doulas and prenatal educators.

Who better than to tell you about her remarkable journey than Marlo herself? The following is an account of her experience in her own words:

“As a small child, I recall being absolutely enthralled with the mystery of pregnancy, gestation, labor and birth. It was simply fascinating to me that it only took nine months to create a brand new life. That sense and wonder, awe and amazement has remained with me and has become a driving force by which I proudly serve the needs of the birthing family.

The birth of a baby is not just the birth of a baby…it’s the birth of a mother, a father, grandparents, aunts and uncles-simply put, it is the birth of a new beginning. Each child brings his or her own set of dreams and hopes and may well be the very healing that this world needs. How we treat mothers and fathers during pregnancy, labor and birth matters. My closely held philosophy is that pregnancy, labor and birth should be treated in the highest of regards. Words spoken to the pregnant mother should be sweet, well-chosen and pleasing to her ear. Pregnancy lasts approximately 270 days, not along time considering a human life is being formed and nurtured with physical and emotional pathways that will serve as the foundation of a new life.”

“So, it is in this spirit that since 1998, I have provided care to more than one thousand pregnant families as a registered nurse working in labor, delivery, and the mother/baby unit and as a certified birth and postpartum doula. As an approved birth doula trainer, I have trained just as many nursing students, women and men pursuing a career in doula work and childbirth education. I trust the wisdom of God, the power of our bodies and the miracle of birth.”

“On a personal note, I am a proud wife, a strong mother of 5 children (three hospital births and two home/water births) and a life-long birth advocate!”
