Michelle Moreno
Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula,
Comfort & Relaxation Techniques Instructor
Thank you so much for your interest in Mother’s Care and our exceptional team of Doulas. We are honored to introduce you to the care provider you are considering to support you through pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
Michelle Moreno is one of Mother’s Care’s original Doulas, and we have had the privilege of working alongside her since the early days of our company when we began expanding our group in order to meet the growing demand for trained, certified and experienced labor, birth and postpartum professionals. Her depth of experience, warmth, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to families make her an invaluable part of our Birth and Postpartum Doula team. We are confident she will be a remarkable addition to your support system.
Michelle’s Journey to Doula Care
Michelle came to Mother’s Care with an extensive professional background in finance. Interestingly, it was through her corporate career that she first learned about doulas. Inspired by a colleague who transitioned into doula work seeking more meaningful, people-centered service, Michelle recognized immediately that this path aligned perfectly with her own strengths and passions.
Drawing from her personal birth experiences and her deep understanding of how much education, advocacy, and reassurance families need, Michelle made the courageous shift from banking to what she fondly calls “banking on the miracle of life.” She fully immersed herself in Birth Doula training and certification and has never looked back.
Michelle believes deeply that birth is a profound, transformative experience. She works closely with expectant mothers and their partners to ensure they feel informed, supported, confident, and empowered every step of the way. She is trained in Spinning Babies®, non-pharmacological pain relief techniques, labor positioning, birth ball use, massage, aromatherapy, and comfort measures designed to support physiologic birth in any setting.
Birth Doula Experience & Advocacy
Michelle is experienced in supporting families planning both hospital births and home births, adapting her care seamlessly to meet the needs of each unique birth environment.
As a woman of color, she recognizes the urgent importance of providing care that actively addresses and helps reduce the current U.S. maternal mortality rate for women of color. Women of color—particularly Black mothers—“disproportionately experience adverse pregnancy outcomes, including maternal mortality, compared to women of other racial and ethnic groups” (Nijoku, Evans, Nimo-Sefah & Bailey, 2023). Research also shows that risks decrease when Black mothers receive care from providers who are also people of color, including trained doulas who offer physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Mother’s Care has always taken a strong and intentional stance on doing everything possible to support and protect our clients, especially those from vulnerable populations, and Michelle embodies this mission in her work every day.
Her skill, intuition, and ability to build trust are evident in the most meaningful way: families return to Michelle again and again. Many of her clients choose to work with her for their second, third, fourth, and even fifth births! This is an extraordinary testament to the quality of care she provides.
Prenatal Education & Fear-Less® Childbirth
In addition to her work as a Birth Doula, Michelle is one of Mother’s Care’s most experienced Prenatal Educators. She teaches childbirth education classes for MC clients and within the Memorial Healthcare System (Memorial West, Regional, and Miramar), focusing on comfort measures, breathing techniques, deep relaxation, labor positioning, and non-pharmacological pain relief.
Michelle is trained to teach one of Mother’s Care’s most popular and impactful offerings: Fear-Less® Childbirth. This course was developed specifically for mothers and partners experiencing heightened anxiety, stress, or fear surrounding birth. Through compassionate teaching and practical tools, Michelle helps families identify fears, understand the birth process, and learn techniques that promote calm, confidence, and connection.
Her classes are known for being informative, empowering, and (thanks to her humor and warmth) genuinely enjoyable. She has also served as a Support Educator for Shalom Belly Prenatal Education Classes in Weston, FL, offered through Temple Bet Sholom.
Postpartum Doula Care: More Than a Babysitter or Night Nurse
While Michelle now focuses primarily on Birth Doula work, she selectively provides Postpartum Doula care for repeat clients and families with special, immediate needs and for those who require the kind of expert-level care she is known for.
A Postpartum Doula is very different from a babysitter or night nurse. While those roles may focus primarily on the baby, a Postpartum Doula supports the entire family system, including the recovering mother.
During the early days and weeks after birth, a Postpartum Doula:
-
Supports maternal physical recovery and emotional well-being
-
Helps parents understand newborn behavior and feeding cues
-
Provides evidence-based guidance on infant care, sleep, and soothing
-
Encourages rest, nourishment, and confidence for new parents
-
Supports bonding and adjustment for both parents
Michelle’s postpartum care is warm, nurturing, and deeply attuned to each family’s needs. She understands how the birth experience shapes the postpartum period and can skillfully “tune in” to what a new mother needs in that moment. Her goal is to help mothers rest, heal, regain strength, and truly enjoy their baby—while also supporting partners as they transition into their new role.
Michelle is trained in breastfeeding and supports families who bottle feed breastmilk or formula. She assists with latch, positioning, and common challenges, and knows when to refer families to additional lactation support if needed. She also incorporates gentle calming techniques, natural recovery measures for mom, and more.
Michelle accepts only a very limited number of postpartum clients each year, therefore availability is selective. Please let us know if you are interested so we may check her schedule.
A Trusted Presence for Every Family
Michelle’s professional background refined her exceptional communication and customer-service skills, which translate beautifully into her doula work. She is friendly, grounded, funny, deeply knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in the families she supports.
As Michelle often says: “Parents can call me anytime with questions. My hope is to help a woman and her partner achieve their vision for birth or to receive gentle guidance when they are home with their baby—through education, reassurance, comfort, and a whole lot of encouragement and above all, laughter.”
A Little More About Michelle
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Michelle moved to South Florida at age 11. She has been married for over 30 years and is the proud mother of two adult sons—and an adoring grandmother to little ones who bring her endless joy. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, camping and spending time with her family. You'll find her walking the trails or riding bikes with her husband (doggies in tow) and enjoying nature. She loves caring for her pets and making memories with her grandchildren.
We are honored that Michelle may share in your pregnancy, birth, and/or postpartum journey. Her experience, compassion, advocacy, and steady presence are truly invaluable.
Thank you for considering Mother’s Care to serve your family.
