Michelle Moreno
Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula,
Comfort/Relaxation Technique Instructor
Thank you so much for your interest in our company and our fine staff of Doulas and Doulas! By way of introduction, please allow Mother’s Care to share a bit about the Doula care provider you are considering to assist you during your pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period.
We've had the privilege of working with Michelle Moreno since 2012. We are happy to include her in our staff of Birth and Postpartum Doulas and feel she will be a fantastic addition to your birth support team.
As a Birth Doula, Michelle has been providing care to women and their partners during the birth of their baby since 2012. Michelle came to Mother’s Care originally with an extensive background in Finance. Amazingly it was her finance career that brought her to come to know about Doulas and then later, to Mother’s Care for her training and Certification as a Birth Doula. At the time, a colleague of Michelle’s had made the decision to find work that was more fulfilling and that would allow her to work with people in a more connected way. After taking the Birth Doula Training and becoming Certified, this friend felt that this was just the kind of work Michelle would be perfect for! When Michelle heard about how Doulas benefit women during their pregnancy, labor and birth and knowing first hand, from her own birthing experiences, how much information women need to make positive birth choices, Michelle was eager to become a Doula! She made the transition from banking to “banking on the miracle of life”, as she puts it, and threw herself into working as a Birth Doula! Michelle believes that the birth process is a miracle and she enjoys working with expectant mothers and their partners to provide all the support she can. She is trained in Spinning Babies, non-pharmacological methods of pain relief which include the use of the birth ball, aromatherapy, massage for labor techniques and more!
Along with the work she performs as a Birth Doula, Michelle is also one of our Experienced Prenatal Educators. Michelle teaches comfort and relaxation techniques for labor and birth for MC Clients and within the Memorial Healthcare System (Memorials West, Regional and Miramar) during their prenatal Childbirth Education Classes. As an Instructor, Michelle takes part in the Childbirth Education Series taught in the hospital setting teaching non-pharmacological methods of pain relief, breathing and deep relaxation, birthing positions and techniques and much more!
The class participants LOVE her humor and fun nature while also receiving quality information and tips they can use for their birth. Michelle also spearheaded one of MCs most popular Childbirth Class Technique, “Fear-Less Childbirth”© . This 5-week course was created to meet the needs of mothers and their partners who express a higher than normal level of anxiety, stress or fear surrounding childbirth than what most consider to be “normal fear” related to giving birth. This class and any class she teaches, has helped many couples discover what their fears and concerns are and that fear can be managed with simple techniques that help to create an environment of calm, peace and joy during the birth process. Michelle has been one of our MC Support Educators for the Shalom Belly Prenatal Education Classes in Weston, FL. Shalom Belly is a Childbirth Education Class Series offered by Temple Bet Sholom providing education classes for new parents from pregnancy, childbirth and beyond.
For many years Michelle provided both Birth and Postpartum Doula Services. Recently she has shifted her focus to do more Birth Doula work leaving her free to provide support and Postpartum Care for her own grandchildren. Because she enjoys caring for newborns and their parents so much, she will often make herself available for Postpartum Doula support for her many repeat clients or clients with very special needs who need immediate services. As a Postpartum Doula, Michelle is warm, caring and loving to the newborns she works with. She wholeheartedly enjoys spending time with new mothers and their babies. Her focus is on helping the new mother regain her strength and cope with her new addition. Her goal is to help new mothers rest and recuperate after their birth so that they can enjoy their baby that much more. Michelle recognizes the impact that birth has on the postpartum experience and can “tune-in” to a new mother’s individual needs. Michelle follows and supports the techniques all MC Doulas do when caring for the new mother and her baby. These techniques include (but are not limited to: gentle calming methods, The Happiest Baby on the Block, natural birth recovery measures for mom and more! While she will happily support and work with clients who choose any feeding method (breast and/or bottle with breastmilk or formula) Michelle is trained in breastfeeding basics and works with clients who plan to breastfeed in order to teach them proper feeding and latch-on techniques and address the common and uncommon challenges that might arise when nursing an infant. If you are interested in working with Michelle in the Postpartum period, please let us know so that we can check into her schedule of availability since, at present, Michelle only takes a very small number of postpartum clients per year.
Michelle’s strengths lie upon her ability to work with a diverse population that includes families of all walks of life, backgrounds and ethnicities. Her professional background afforded her the opportunity to perfect her “customer service” skills and so she is friendly and warm and so funny! You will enjoy her down-to-earth nature and be impressed with her knowledge and wisdom. Michelle wants her clients to know that, “Mom’s and Dad’s can call me anytime with questions! I am eager to help and provide them with any information they might need. I can suggest education videos and books to help them understand the birth process and to encourage them. My hope is that we can achieve a woman’s and her partner's dream for the birth of their baby and have that experience be fulfilling and joyful. From massages with warm compresses to soothing music, gentle but effective birth positions and lots of laughter...I will help you do it all!”
On a personal note, Michelle was born in Brooklyn, New York and then moved with her family at the age of 11 to South Florida. After graduating from High School and attending several years of College Michelle began her professional work in the finance arena until she decided to become a doula. She has been married for almost 30 years and has been blessed with 2 adult sons. Michelle is also a grandmother to 2 of the cutest little ones you could ever meet! She LOVES being a grandmother and spends most of her free time caring for and enjoying her grandchildren. She enjoys getting outdoors, her pets and doing fun activities with her husband.
We are pleased that Michelle will share in your birth and/or postpartum experience for just a short while! We promise her warmth, peaceful and supportive nature and expertise will prove to be invaluable during your pregnancy, labor, and birth!
Thank you for considering Mother’s Care to serve your family!
