We want to help you prepare in every way to welcome your new baby. We are honored to partner with local hospitals and teach education classes. Mother's Care is the preferred provider for Prenatal Education Classes at: Mount Sinai Medical Center, the Memorial Healthcare System (Memorial West, Miramar & Regional) & the North Broward Hospital District (Broward General Ft. Lauderdale & Coral Springs). We are also the preferred provider for Temple Bet Sholom’s “Shalom Baby”: Parents-to-be Classes.

1-day, Prenatal Childbirth Education Class (5 hours)

A Lamaze-based prenatal education class with the goal of preparing you for your upcoming Labor and Birth experience. Topics covered include (but are not limited to): the Stages of Labor, Common Medical Interventions, Pharmacological methods of pain relief (IV pain medications, Epidural Anesthesia), Non-pharmacological methods for comfort and relaxation (breathing exercises, positive gravity positions, pain alleviating measures and techniques), birthing/pushing techniques, the role of your partner and/or Birth Doula (a trained and experienced childbirth support professional who provides in-person or virtual emotional and physical support before, during and after your birth experience) and much more! All classes include up-to-date information on COVID-19 related to labor, birth and breastfeeding.

5-Week “Fear•Less”® Childbirth Class (2.5 hours/class)

“Fear•Less”® Childbirth" is a unique 5-week course that teaches women and their partners special techniques for managing pain and anxiety during childbirth. With a focus on addressing the most common causes of fear related to pregnancy and childbirth, this class includes special breathing strategies, relaxation, visualization, meditative practice, attention to nutrition and positive body toning. Common medical interventions are also addressed so that expectant mothers and their partners can discuss benefits and risks in a safe and calm space and voice their questions, fears and concerns in order to create open dialogue with their healthcare provider. Class also includes Breastfeeding & Newborn Care instruction found in our "Introduction to Breastfeeding" & "Your Amazing Newborn" Classes. Introduction to Breastfeeding (3 hours)

Receive up-to-date, evidence-based information on breastfeeding in order to support successful breastfeeding during the first critical weeks. Topics covered include: The benefits of breastfeeding, strategies for success and how to avoid complications, breastfeeding techniques and positions for comfort, maternal diet considerations, breast/nipple care, tips for your partner and how they can support breastfeeding without feeling “left out”. We will also discuss the most common challenges and how to avoid them or treat them. Questions regarding breastfeeding are addressed including the all-important: "How do I know my baby is getting enough?" Class participants are encouraged to take this class during pregnancy. "Your Amazing Newborn!" Class (3 hours)

This class introduces important topics regarding your newborn baby. Topics included (but are not limited to): common newborn characteristics, behaviors, sleeping and eating patterns. The class also covers the basics of infant care regarding crib safety, diapering, infant feeding options (basic discussion on breastfeeding and formula feeding), bathing and general care for the newborn. Included is a general discussion on potential challenges such as colic, reflux and warning signs of illness (how to reduce incidence of SIDS, avoiding Shaken Baby Syndrome, etc.) along with tips/techniques on soothing/calming a newborn. The class will also address topics such as: delayed cord clamping, umbilical cord blood banking (private and donation), benefits of delaying the first bath and more! All classes include up-to-date information on COVID-19 related to birth and breastfeeding and the newborn.

This class covers: the cesarean section procedure, what to expect, how the surgery is performed, medical interventions and pain medication utilized, postpartum recovery expectations and tips, addressing fear & instruction on calming techniques for a surgical birth, partners role and more. Infant Feeding Choices: Breastmilk Pumping, Collection & Storage & Formula Safety (3 Hours)

This class is suitable to anyone who is anticipating the need to pump and store breastmilk; not only parents who are returning to work. The pumping section of the class covers: Pumps and equipment, “Sizing” your breast pump, milk storage supplies, storing and refrigeration and freezing breastmilk, where and when to pump, when to start introducing the exclusively breastfed baby to a bottle, when to start pumping and getting ready to be away from the baby. The Bottle Feeding/Formula Safety section of the class addresses questions surrounding infant Formula such as how to prepare formula, how to bottle feed, information on formula safety and how to maintain safe standards when preparing a bottle. Class participants encouraged to take class during pregnancy. All classes include up-to-date information on COVID-19 related to birth and breastfeeding and the newborn. Partners encouraged to attend!

This class is designed for expectant parents who want to learn how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on infants up to 1 year of age. We recommend that you register and attend this class during 28 - 38 weeks pregnant. You'll be taught how to perform CPR on an infant while using a doll/mannequin for hands-on instruction. The class also covers safety issues such as: Infant safety, accident prevention in the home and more! The CPR Instructor will provide virtual materials to the participants at the start of each class. The virtual materials will include: 1) study guide, 2) skills sheets, 3) quiz answer sheets, & 4) a printable completion card with parent rescuer tips on the reverse side. When you register for the CPR class, as a part of the confirmation message you'll be advised to use a baby doll or teddy bear to demonstrate the virtual skills sets. This class is a combination of virtual, video and demonstration.
*This program is not designed for those seeking CPR certification, or who are required to attend a CPR course for the workplace or a credential.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REGISTER & PAY FOR CLASSES? You will receive a confirmation email that we received your Registration Form & Payment. A separate message will be emailed to you containing the LINK you will need to access your class and other important instructions.
WHERE ARE THE CLASSES HELD? Group Classes are held at our residential facility in Pembroke Pines, FL. Private Classes can be at your home or our facility.
Until further notice, we are offering all of our classes virtually (online) in combination. If you prefer in person or group classes, please contact us to see when we will resume these classes.
WHAT IS THE REFUND / CANCELLATION POLICY? Class payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. However, as a courtesy, you are able to transfer your payment towards another class or other MC Service.
