What Is A Birth Doula?
MC Birth Doulas are trained, experienced and certified prenatal, birth & postpartum professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support before, during and just after the birth of your baby. Our Doulas specialize in techniques that are known to shorten the length of labor, ease labor discomfort and help to reduce anxiety or fear. Our Doulas are trained to identify what may cause challenges during your labor and birth process in order to help you develop strategies to correct them and so much more!

Apprentice Doula

- In Training or has Completed Training Program and has some Labor Support Experience
- Ongoing Prenatal Support and Communication with your Doula
- Up to 2 VIRTUAL Prenatal Visits with your Doula
- Continuous labor support is provided only at the birth location (unless healthcare provider present)
- Immediate Postpartum Support for at least 2 hours in the birth setting
- 1 VIRTUAL Postpartum Follow up Visit
- Doulas in Training Mentored by our Experienced & Certified Birth Doula Staff

- Up to 2 In-person Prenatal Visits with your Doula
- In-person Early Labor Support Labor Support at home when possible & deemed safe. Continuous In-person Labor Support during Active Labor & throughout the Birth Process until the baby’s birth & Immediate Postpartum Support for at least 2 hours in your chosen Birth Setting (Home, Birth Center, or Hospital).
- 1 In-person Postpartum Follow-up Visit
MC Certified Doulas are extensively trained and skilled to provide support for home, birth center or hospital birth. Our team is experienced in a wide range of birth scenarios, including spontaneous and induced labor, unmedicated and medicated births, VBACs, and high- or low-risk pregnancies. We also offer guidance on comfort techniques, positioning, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, infant care, and more.

What is the Difference
Between a Certified Doula,
Apprentice Doula & Doula In Training?
MC Certified Doula - Has completed all the requirements necessary to become a Certified Birth Doulas through reputable organizations such as: DONA International, International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), Childbirth And Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), Childbirth International, the National Black Doulas Association, the Healthy Start Doula Program, the Southern Birth Justice Doula Program (SBJP) and others. Our Certified Birth Doulas have attended many births and served many clients in various birth settings (hospital, birthing centers and at home). Our Certified staff have other certifications and experience in: Breastfeeding, Childbirth Education, Lamaze, HypnoBirthing®, Spinning Babies, Massage and/or Aromatherapy and more!
Apprentice Doulas & Doula In Training - Apprentice Doulas may be Certified but are newer to Doula work. They have completed classroom training requirements, have worked with clients in the past (before, during and after their classes), are currently working with clients as a Birth Doula in various settings and in various capacities, and have already gained experience working with clients during the prenatal period, labor/birth and postpartum. Doulas in Training are still in their Training Process and utilize client experiences to complete certification process.
